Which OS is supported?

See Download for the current Public beta builds and platform status. Please check that page before downloading because signing and platform availability may change from build to build.

Does Free expire?

No. Free is permanent as long as you stay within 8 tracks. There’s no trial timer.

Is there a watermark in Free SMF exports?

No. Free and Pro produce identical MIDI files. We don’t taint your data with markers.

What will Pro cost after the official release?

Post-beta pricing is not currently published. Pro is $0 during beta testing.

Can I use what I make commercially?

Yes — both Free and Pro place no restrictions on the MIDI you produce. Compose, perform, release, teach, all on you.

How do I upgrade Free → Pro?

Enter your license key in Settings → License. Everything unlocks instantly. Existing projects work without migration.

What happens to a Pro project opened in Free?

It opens. Tracks 9+ become read-only and are skipped during playback. Either upgrade to Pro or trim down to 8 tracks to edit again.

Does it play nice with my main DAW?

Yes. skulpton connects to OS MIDI ports — use IAC on macOS or loopMIDI on Windows to bridge to other DAWs. See MIDI Setup.

Project file format?

JSON-based. Single clips export as .clp for transport into other projects.

MIDI file import / export?

.mid / .midi import works via drag-and-drop from the file browser. Export status is updated on the Download page and changelog.

Can custom helpers be shared across projects?

Yes — drop .js into {appData}/libs/codes/ and enable it as App libs. Available to coding Note Effects in any project, Free or Pro.
